Anna “Louise” Goeken, 101, formerly of Hopedale, passed away Monday, December 25, 2023 at St. Clara’s Rehab and Senior Care in Lincoln.
She was born April 28, 1922 in Lincoln to Roy and Opha Goff Humberd. She married George B. Goeken on November 23, 1939 in Lincoln, and he passed away July 20, 2007.
Surviving are her children, Gary (Linda) Goeken and Georgene Smith, both of Decatur; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 8 great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Gregory Goeken; one daughter, Gena Travis; one grandson, Douglas Goeken; one granddaughter, Jill Travis Rush; one infant great-granddaughter, Kaylee Conkright; four sisters, Bea Caplinger, Norma Wozniak, Ruth Kucik, and Barbara Higdon; and two brothers, Charles and Donald Humberd.
Louise was a homemaker and a member of the Tazwell County Home Extension, served as a 4-H leader for many years, where she taught sewing for the projects.
She was a great cook and famous for her pies, fudge, and fried chicken.
Her funeral will be at 10:00 am Friday, December 29, 2023 at Living Hope Community Church in Hopedale. Pastor Roger Springer will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont is handling the arrangements.
