Arthur Burden Obituary

Arthur Lee (Bert) Burden, 88 of Tremont, died Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at OSF Hospital.

Arthur was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Arthur was born in Deer Creek, Illinois on January 1, 1935 to Frank and Letta Burden.

Arthur served his country for 21 years in the Air Force and then had a career at the Pekin Post Office from which he retired. Arthur loved the outdoors, was an avid gardener, loved to read, and attended Dillon Mennonite Church. Arthur donated to several charities for veterans and religious organizations.

Arthur leaves behind his daughters Ramona Hutchison of West Peoria, Rena’ (Drew) Parker of Peoria, Regina Burden of Scarsdale, NY, Rhonda Workman of Morton, and Robin (John) Nafziger of Hopedale. Also, his grandchildren, Philip Hutchison of Tampa FL, Michelle Hutchison of West Peoria, Rob (Kim) Parker of Peoria, Jarred (Lauren) Workman of Aurora CO, Brianna Workman of Peoria, Justina Nafziger of Raleigh NC, Stuart (Hillary) Nafziger of Sherman, Daniel Nafziger of Hopedale; six great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Three grandchildren, Joshua Workman, Paul Hutchison, Monica Hutchison, his son Richard Burden and his wife of 67 years Shirley Burden preceded him in death.

His funeral will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont. John Nafziger will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
