B.A. Prater Obituary

B.A. Prater, 91, of Hopedale, passed away at 7:45 pm Sunday, October 13, 2019 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal. He was born November 22, 1927 to James Reuben and Merle Agnes Pribble Prater. He married Annabelle Peter on September 17, 1954, and she passed away April 6, 2019. Surviving are five daughters, Peggy (Rodney) Meyer of Lincoln, Deborah Mayfield of Hollywood, FL, Kathy (Doug) Brown of Normal, Barbara (Tim) Lawson of Hopedale, and Sarah Pater of Normal; 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Vivian Prater and Sue Borrow. B.A. served in the United States Airforce. He retired as a teacher, administrator, and coach from Olympia and Hopedale School Districts. He was a member of Hopedale United Methodist Church, Delavan American Legion Post 382 and was a charter member of Hopedale Lion's Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. A private graveside service will be at Gaines Cemetery, rural Minier. Pastor Carl Johnson will officiate. There will be no visitation. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Hopedale is handling the arrangements. Memorials may be made to Hopedale Lions Club, American Cancer Society or Advocate BroMenn Adult Day Services.
