She married Orville Sauder on December 24, 1961, and they celebrated 62 years together before his passing in September 2024.

Surviving is one son, Stephen (Pam) Sauder of Tremont; two daughters, Karen (Tom) Sego of Pekin; and Deborah (Alan) Wyland of Missoula, Montana. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Sheila (David) Ducommon, and Sara (Mike) Summers.

A graduate of Peoria School of Practical Nursing in 1961, Betty worked as a licensed practical nurse at Pekin and Methodist Hospitals, as well as serving as a home health nurse. She was a member of Twelve Oaks Community Church in Peoria for many years, serving as a pianist for the congregation, then a member of Northfield Christian Fellowship in Tremont, Illinois.

Betty was well known for her hospitality and the love of cooking for others; she could often be found perusing her collection of recipe books. She had a deep love for the Lord, her husband Orville, and her family, and will be remembered lovingly for her sweet, gentle spirit.
