Betty Lou Riggenbach Obituary

Betty Lou Riggenbach, slipped from our arms and into the arms of her Heavenly Father on June 29, 2024. She was 96.

She was born August 21, 1927, to Charles and Anna Baer Michel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Riggenbach, parents, older brother, Bob Michel, twin sister, Mary Ann (Daisy) Michel, and one granddaughter, Liesl Riggenbach. Betty Lou grew up in West Peoria.

She married Ben Riggenbach on September 26, 1954 and together they raised four sons: Kevin (Rita), Kent, Kurt (Karen), and Kim (Tami) Riggenbach. Many grandchildren and great grandchildren followed.

Prior to her marriage, Betty Lou attended Brown Business School and was employed at Owens Illinois until beginning their family. Together Ben and Betty Lou attended and served in Hamilton Street and Twelve Oaks Apostolic Church throughout their lifetimes with Betty Lou often applying her skills as the congregation’s organist. She was a gentle woman, loving mother, aunt and faithful friend to many and was a fierce prayer warrior for all she knew. She served her Lord and family with steadfast devotion. She was a quiet soul with humble dedication to God and the people He entrusted to her care.

Services will be Friday, July 5, 11:00 am at Davis Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont, with a visitation one hour before at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to Northfield Christian Fellowship.
