Beverly J. Litwiller, 86, of Hopedale, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Beverly was born on March 31, 1939, to Charles and Annabelle Pleines. She married Marvin Litwiller, on December 7, 1963, in Hopedale, and they shared almost 60 years of marriage before Marv’s passing on September 20, 2023.
Bev is survived by her five children: Rod (Diane) Litwiller of Tremont; Renee (Brent) Eichelberger of Hopedale; Greg (Sue) Litwiller of Hopedale; Lisa Miller of Tremont; and Chad (Tanya) Litwiller of Tremont: sixteen grandchildren: Zak and Zeke Litwiller: Taylor (Jordan) Gaither; Jacie (Spencer) Pratt; Amy (J.T.) Graf; Jake (Annalise) Eichelberger; Josie (Seth) Wohlgemuth; Sam Litwiller; Logan (Jorden Lee), Gracie, and Chloe Miller; Jack, Marvin, Charlie, Annabelle, and William Litwiller: eight great-grandchildren who called her “other grandma”: Avie, Gemma, and Tucker Gaither; Tessa and Sadie Pratt; and Sage, Cade and Bane Graf.
Bev is also survived by her sister Judy (Ralph) Eadie; sisters-in-law Dorothy Klassen, Dorthea Litwiller, Loretta (Ed) Slaubaugh; brother-in-law Al (Marilyn) Litwiller.
She was preceded in death by her husband Marv; her sister Linda (Lowell) Heiser; and in-laws Lloyd (Sarah) Litwiller, Glenn Litwiller, Irene (Elmo) Springer, Leona (Aaron) Slaubaugh, and Walter Klassen.
She was a member of Hopedale Mennonite Church. She enjoyed teaching Children’s Sunday School there for many years.
Bev grew up farming alongside her dad, graduated from Stanford High School and attended Illinois Wesleyan University before completing her degree at Burnham City Hospital School of Medical Technology. She worked as a lab technician at Hopedale Hospital until she was married. When on call for the weekends her ’61 red Thunderbird was sometimes seen flying down 136 to get to work.
After she married, she enjoyed raising their kids, helping Marv with their business and loved to farm and be outside. Bev also loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and taking lots of pictures and videos of them. She enjoyed going to their sporting events and anything else they were involved in. She also loved spending time at the beach, boating, music, photography, fast cars, and drinking lots of Coca-Cola.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2025, funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 29, 2025, both at Hopedale Mennonite Church. Burial will be at Mennonite Cemetery in Hopedale, with a meal to follow at Living Hope Community Church. Memorials may be made to Hopedale Rescue Squad.
