Bret W. Saal

Bret W. Saal, 52, of Pekin, passed away Friday, September 16, 2022 at his home. 

He was born April 26, 1970 in Pekin to David and Carolyn Banks Saal.  He married Kristy Nichols on March 14, 2022 in Pekin, and she survives. 

Also surviving are his children, Destiny Saal of Pekin, Lindsay Franzoni of North Liberty, IA, Brayden Franzoni of Bloomington, Seth Franzoni of West Branch, IA, and Isaiah Franzoni of West Branch, IA; one brother, Troy Saal of Pekin, and his children, Anna, Rebecca, and Zachary Saal, all of Pekin and one sister in-law Stacey Rounds of Bellevue; his father and mother in-law, Dave and Diane Nichols of Farmington; nephews, Bryson (Makaela) Rounds of Farmington, Zachary Rounds of Farmington, and niece, Allison Rounds of Yates City; and great nephew, Harrison Rounds of Farmington; and his beloved pets, Moose Henri, Charlotte “Charli” Lynn, and Nova Jean. 

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Bret worked at Otto Baum for 10 years as a heavy equipment mechanic/mgr. He loved his work, mostly because of the great friendships he developed over the years. He was proud of the work he did.  

He attended Bridgeway Community Church in Pekin, enjoyed working on his old trucks in the garage, fishing at his in-laws, the Green Bay Packers, cooking, and playing with the pets; but most of he enjoyed being with his family.  

A memorial service will be at 4:00 pm Friday, September 23, 2022 at Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont. Pastor Michael Downs will officiate.  There will be no visitation. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bridgeway Community Church in Pekin or TAPS.
