Carolyn E. Appenzeller, 84, of rural Delavan, Illinois, died on September 30, 2025, in Pekin. She was born on June 3, 1941, in Lincoln, Illinois to Arthur and Emma (Buse) Appenzeller.
Carolyn lived a life rooted in faith, compassion, and a deep love for the land and its creatures. She found joy in the simple pleasures of farm life and held a lifelong affection for animals of all kinds. Her unwavering faith was a guiding light throughout her life, and she was a devoted member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Minier.
She is survived by her brother, Duane Appenzeller (Cindy Coggins); step-nephews Brian (Michelle) Naffziger, Jim (Rebecca) Watts, and Joe (Carrie) Watts; and step-nieces Brenda Naffziger and Nicole Watts. Carolyn cherished her friends and neighbors and the bonds they shared.
In honor of Carolyn’s memory, contributions may be made to St. John’s United Church of Christ in Minier or the Hopedale Medical Foundation. Condolences may be sent to her brother Duane at P.O. Box 304, Delavan, IL 61734.
There will be no services at this time. A graveside service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont.
