Catherine Elizabeth Bernier

Tremont-Catherine “Elizabeth” Bernier was born November 7, 1922 to Arthur Jay and Fern Elizabeth Williams Dutcher in Omaha, NE.  She was married to James Thomas Bernier on November 7, 1947.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, their son Charles and her sister Nancy Dutcher Elliott.  

She is survived by their four children, Cynthia (Duane) Miller, David (Patricia) Bernier, Stephen (Barbara) Bernier and Julia (Glenn) Gordon.  In addition to 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, 2 of which are due in August.   

After moving to Tremont in 1968, mom worked at Beecham’s Grocery for 14 years till she retired.  She volunteered as a dispatcher for Rescue 702 and at the Tremont Library. She was a member of Tremont Baptist Church where she was active in the Baptist Women and the Hand Bell Choir.  She also enjoyed the Tremont Garden Club and playing cards once a week with her friends. 

Her funeral will be at 11:00 am Friday, April 30, 2021 at Tremont Baptist Church.  Pastor Noah Lee will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church.  Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.  Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont is handling the arrangements.
