Cindi Shepard, 74, of Delavan, passed away Monday, July 1, 2024 at her home.
She was born March 26, 1950 in Mineola, NY to Clifford and Mary Lou Peterson Wertsch. She married Milo Shepard on August 12, 1972 in Delavan, and he survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Cassie Taylor of East Moline and Maria (Brant) Peterson of Dixon; one son, Shom Bandopadhaya; daughter-in-law, Erin Shepard of West Lafayette, IN; 10 grandchildren, Cora, Charlie, Calvin, Brady, Bethany, Lucy, Delaney, Jessa, Lydia, and Jordyn; two brothers, Larry (Colleen) Wertsch and Jimmy (Mary) Wertsch; and one sister, Lin (Jim) Roscoe.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one son, Ben Shepard.
Cindi received her master’s degree in education and worked as a special education teacher in Peoria for 6 years. After raising her family, she returned to teaching in the Delavan School District for 14 years.
She was very active in her churches, Smithville Bible Church, Valley Chapel Church, Prairie Bible Church, and Delavan United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday school, led worship and played the piano, vacation Bible school, Backyard Club and was active in the Faith Bible Camp in Yates City.
Cindi enjoyed gardening, flower arranging, visiting others and giving flowers, and crafting with her grandchildren. She loved God’s creation by watching the birds and animals, and taking care of them.
A memorial service will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, July 6, 2024 at the Delavan United Methodist Church. Pastor Nate Best will officiate. Visitation will be from 12 noon to 1:45 pm Saturday, also at the church. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Delavan is handling the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Bible Camp in Yates City.
