Dale E Pflederer

Dale E. Pflederer, 90, of Tremont, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.

A lifelong member of Tremont, he was born April 9, 1936 on a farm in Tremont to Daniel and Stella Riggenbach Pflederer.  He married Carole J. Becker on February 1, 1958 in Tremont, and she passed away October 21, 2025.

Surviving are his children, Gene (Teri) Pflederer of East Peoria, Richard (Gail) Pflederer of Wheaton, and Michael (Karen) Pflederer of Tremont; nine grandchildren, Nick Pflederer, Ryan (Janna) Pflederer, Megan (Matt) Born, Brent (Jessica) Pflederer, Sarah (Jacob) Hackbarth, Brittney (Steve) Arnold, Cody (Carlie) Canfield, Kai (Alecia) Pflederer, and Kaitlynn (Mason) Miller; and 19 great grandchildren with one due in January 2027.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Joy Meyer; one brother, Billy Pflederer; and one great granddaughter, Micah Hackbarth.

Dale graduated from Bradley University in 1958 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

He first worked at WABCO as a stress analyst from 1958-1968.  He then worked at IBM in Peoria as a systems engineer from 1968-1979. In 1979, he started DP Consultants in Tremont, which grew to a company of 100 employees providing software to over 2,000 schools throughout the country.

Dale was instrumental in building Tremont’s first swimming pool in 1968, and was a founding member of the Tremont Turkey Festival, which was established for the funding  of the pool.  He and Carole served as general chairmen of the Turkey Festival in 1969 and 1970. 

He was also a founding member of the Tremont Education Foundation and a board member of the Tremont Library.

In his retirement, he also enjoyed mowing yards with his grandchildren and working with the Tremont Area Park District until he was 85 years old.

He was a member of Tremont Baptist Church since 1958, where he taught Sunday school, served as a deacon, and enjoyed the men’s fellowship group.

He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed traveling with his wife.

In his last few years, he moved to the Villas of Holly Brook in East Peoria where he was known as the “Mayor of Holly Brook”.

His funeral will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at Tremont Baptist Church.  Pastor Noah Lee will officiate.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Tuesday, at Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont.  Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Tremont.
