Daniel Koch

Daniel Koch, 99, of Tremont, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton.

He was born January 2, 1926 in Tremont to Daniel R. and Mary Bauer Koch.  He married Carol Sauder on October 9, 1949, and she preceded him in death on December 12, 2022.

Surviving are his children, Christy (Nelson) Musselman of Tremont, Faye (Bill) Schnedler of Brooksville, FL, Jane (Dan) Farley of Falls City, NE, Daniel (Julie) Koch and Philip (Diane) Koch, both of Tremont; 11 grandchildren, Lisa (Tom) Haas, Jon Koch, Jason (Anita) Koch, Michael (Holly) Koch, Rebecca (Matt) Slagel, Katie (Santos) Lopez, Patrick (Joy) O’Conner, Kathy (Gary) Wagenbach, Brad (Lori) Koch, Brett (Ashley) Koch, and Rachel (Tracy) Leman; two step-granddaughters, Michelle Pyland and Danielle Jones; and 27 great grandchildren.

Dan was the last surviving child of the Dan and Mary Bauer Koch’s 13 children.  He was preceded in death by his nine brothers, Ralph, David, Cleo, Eugene, Jesse, Vernon, Gerald, Elmon, and Jim; and his three sisters, Vi Koch, Carolyn Bolliger, and Miriam Frank.

Dan farmed most of his life on the family dairy farm with his brother Elmon, his sons, and his nephews.

He instilled a love for God’s creation in all of his family.  It was in the family timber that Dan, at the age of 20, repented and gave his life to the Lord.  He was a faithful member of the Tremont Apostolic Christian Church, where he served as minister and elder for 35 years.  He also served as the counseling elder of the Bloomington Apostolic Christian Church.

He loved God, his dear wife, and family and lived by his favorite verse: “He hath shewed thee , O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God” Micah 6:8.

His funeral will be at 10:00 am Thursday, January 23, 2025 at the Tremont Apostolic Christian Church.  Ministers of the church will officiate.  Visitation will be from 3 to 7 pm Wednesday at the Apostolic Christian Fellowship Hall and from 9:00 to 9:45 am Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Tremont. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont is handling the arrangements.
