Daniel Neeley

Neeley, Daniel Dean “Dan”, 81, of Mackinaw, passed away Monday, May 15, 2023 at Hopedale Nursing Home. 

He was born on February 11, 1942 in Bloomington to Damon and Doris (Loveland) Neeley. 

Dan married Delores (Fields) on January 25, 1964 in Pekin, and she survives. 

Also surviving are his two sons, Doug (Susan) Neeley of Mackinaw, Dustin (Angelia) Neeley of Morton and his daughter, Denise (Shayne) Ghere of Pekin. His brother  David (Sharon) Neeley of Mackinaw, along with his seven grandchildren: Jackson, Cooper, Zachary, Denton, Madison, Hope, Faith (Khalil), and his beloved dog, Snickers survive him as well. 

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Dan, along with his brother David, owned and operated Mackinaw Transfer Incorporated, which was started by their father in 1962. He was a member of the Midwest Truckers Association and won “Outstanding Member of the Year” award in 2020. Dan was a lifetime resident of Mackinaw and he was a Grand Marshal of the Mack-A-Fest Parade. 

He enjoyed watching Nascar and was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. Dan loved to spend time with all of his grandchildren and to travel with his wife, Delores.  

His funeral service will be at 10:00 am Saturday, May 20, 2023 at the Christian Church of Mackinaw. Judith Thomas will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Friday at the church.  Burial will be in the Mackinaw Township Cemetery following his service.  Haensel-Oswald Funeral Home in Mackinaw is handling the arrangements.
