Daniel Stone Obituary

Daniel B. Stone, 86, passed away Thursday October 9, 2025, at Carle Health Methodist Hospital in Peoria.  He was born March 12, 1939, in Pekin, IL to Vencil and Josephine Morris Stone.  He married Patricia Stafford on June 11, 1961, in San Jose, IL and she survives. 

Also surviving are two sons, Vencil E. Stone and Roy Allen Stone; one daughter Danette (Michael) Chobanian; one granddaughter Ashley Wilkes; and one brother Warren (Katherine) Stone. 

He was preceded in death by five sisters, Anna June Stone, M. Jean Wubben, Josephine Hayes, Jessie Stuan, B. Joan Pollard; and three brothers, Vencil Stone Jr., George Alanzo Stone, and Wilber Stone. 

Daniel served in the United States Army from 1958 – 1962 after graduating from Tremont High School.

He was a union laborer with labor hall #231 for over 50 years. 

Daniel was a member of the San Jose Christian Church and the Dillon Mennonite church.  He was also a member of the Delavan American Legion. 

He loved spending time on his many hobbies.   He spent many hours doing carpentry work, and he loved to spend time outdoors farming and working in his garden.  In his younger years he enjoyed hunting.

The funeral will be on Friday October 17th at 12 noon at the Dillon Mennonite Church.  Visitation will be one hour before from 11:00 – 11:45 am also at the church.  Allen Payne and Robert Nafziger will officiate.  Burial will be at Antioch Cemetery following the service.  Davis Oswald Funeral Home in Delavan is handling the arrangements.
