David Beutel Obituary

David E. Beutel, 93, peacefully passed away at 03:12 on August 7, 2021.  He was at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton where he had been a resident for five years.  Our family would like to especially recognize the entire staff at Restmor for their outstanding care and love for David.

David was born on March 12, 1928 in Tremont to parents William and Rosina (Pflederer) Beutel.  He married Eunice S. Fehr on November 4, 1951 in Roanoke.  David and Eunice looked forward to celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary this coming November, but our Lord had a better plan.

His children, Sally (and Roger) Koch, Roger (and JoAnn) Beutel, Janice (and Howard) Sauder, and Dean (and Karen) Beutel are all living in the Tremont area.  Additionally, he is survived by 19 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, as well as seven siblings – Alvin Beutel, Helen Zimmerman, Barbara Moser, Ruth Koch, Annette Schambach, Fred Beutel and Phillip Beutel.  David was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters (Nancy Koch and Mary Eisenmann).

David was a farmer his entire life who had a particular love for cattle, always enjoying looking over a herd of cows and calves.  However, early in their married life he and Eunie determined there was another chapter in their lives that needed to be written.  In 1961 David began pursuit of a degree in Education culminating with him joining the staff of District 702 teaching 6th grade.

David was a devout Christian, who deeply believed that as Jesus taught, he needed to “love God and his neighbor as much as himself” (Luke 10:27).  Teaching young impressionable minds allowed him to practice this biblical principle every day at work.  He loved and cherished his students, and over the many years they reciprocated by loving him back which he deeply appreciated.

David’s work wasn’t quite done when he retired from teaching in 1986.  The Lord determined he had yet another commission.  On September 19th, 1991, David fell victim to a terrible farm accident and was paralyzed from mid chest down.  His family genuinely believes David viewed his physical limitations as an opportunity to glorify God and reach deep into the hearts of his many care givers, friends and neighbors.

David was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Tremont where his funeral will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, August 9, 2021.   His visitation will be held Sunday the 8th at the church Fellowship Center (601 S. Chestnut St.) in Tremont, from 1 to 4pm.  Further visitation will be from 09:00 to 09:45 Monday prior to the funeral.  Burial will be in the Apostolic Christian cemetery located in Tremont.  Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont is handling the arrangements.

Memorial contributions can be made to Apostolic Christian Restmor and Apostolic Christian Harvest Call (Hospital Lumiere).
