David Dringenberg Obituary

David Aldino Dringenberg, 85, of rural Delavan, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2023 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born April 8, 1938 in Pekin to Harvey and Aldina A. Beharelle Dringenberg.  He married Christine Oldham on November 28, 1994 in Groveland, and she survives.

Also surviving are his children, Mandy Black of Pekin, Lynn (Robert) Sallee of Ft. Bragg, CA,  and David Eric (Melissa) Dringenberg of Pekin; seven grandchildren, Ed Black, Jessica Bouton, Jenny Black, Katie Black, Joe “Bro” Beeney, Tyler Dringenberg, and Rion Phillips; brothers, Larry (Sunnie) Dringenberg of VA and Jerry (Lil) Dringenberg  WA; sisters, Barb Kramer of Pekin, Deborah (Gary) Cartwright of NC, Christina Hackman of Pekin, and Victoria (Mel) Canada of Manito.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harvey and Richard; and one grandson, Brett “Jett” Beeney.

David was a musician and played the bass guitar with the Christy Lane and the Melody Makers, worked as an electrician during his 12 years at Corn Products, and worked as a millwright on many power houses and bridges in the area.  He also owned an at home welding equipment repair business for over 30 years.

He was an amateur photographer and a motorcycle enthusiast, and his nickname was “Slug”.

He was a member of the Local Carpenter’s Union, Peoria Musician’s Union, and Pekin Motorcycle Club.

A celebration of life will be held at a later  date. Burial of cremated remains will be at Orendorff Cemetery in Hopedale at a later date.  Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont is handling the arrangements.
