David Wayne Hanck, 36, of Hopedale, passed away Friday, February 13, 2026 at his home.
He was born September 10, 1989 to Joni Hanck and Rick Aper.
Surviving are his mother, Joni Hanck of Hopedale; father and step mother, Rick ( Lori) Aper of Port St. Joe, FL; maternal grandparents, Wayne and Linda Hanck of Hopedale; paternal grandparents, Floyd and Gail Aper of Normal; siblings, Ryan Aper, Kristin Aper Diego, Kaylee Aper Tazdyn and Michael Aper; cousins, Rachel (Kyle) Ledbetter, Jeris (Evan) Roe, Jaden Eilts, Kayla Walker, Wil (Madison) Aper, and RJ Aper; two aunts, Dawn (Ace) Eilts and Jennifer (Brian) Walker, both of Hopedale; many nieces and nephews; and his loving cats, Opie and John Paul.
He was preceded in death by one uncle, Robert Aper and great grandmother, Mary Steiger.
David graduated from Olympia High School in 2008 and attended University of Illinois for two years.
He loved to read and spending time with his cats.
His funeral will be at 11:30 am Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Living Hope Community Church in Hopedale. Frank Brozenec will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:30 am Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Orendorff Cemetery in Hopedale. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont is handling the arrangements.
