David Bruce Hickey, of Armington, Illinois, passed away early Sunday morning on July 20, 2025. He was 76 years old.
David was a Caterpillar employee most of his life, where he worked as an electrician. He retired after 39 years. He served in the US Army from November 2nd, 1970 to May 2nd, 1973 with the Corp of Engineers.
He enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle, and was a car enthusiast. David owned a 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle that he was proud to drive, show, and talk about. In his retirement you could often find him at his favorite restaurant for breakfast with whom he called his work buddies, talking cars and other such topics.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Vera Mae Hickey; two sisters, Mary Ellen Lathim and Cheryl Johnson.
He is survived by his sons, Matthew and Ryan; one brother, John; and a granddaughter, Melanie Hickey, of Colorado.
Cremation has been accorded. It was David’s wish to be cremated without a service or celebration of life. Arrangements are being handled by Haensel Oswald Funeral Home in Minier, Illinois.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in David’s name.
