Debra Mielke Obituary

Debra J. Mielke, 74, of Mackinaw passed away May 12, 2026 at her home.  She was born June 15, 1951 in Peoria, IL.  She married William Mathewson on February 27, 1969 and later married Gordon Mielke July 6, 2006.

She was preceded in death her husband Gordon Mielke, her Daughter Dawn Marie Mathewson, and two sisters Donna and Becky.

Debra is survived by her two sons Scott (Michele) Mathewson and Eric (Romey) Mathewson; six grandchildren, Logan, Makayla, Tyler, Alexis, Domnic Mathewson, and Lauren Sandoval; and two great grandchildren Noah and Amelia Mathewson.

Debra had a bachelor’s in accounting.  She worked for many years at Cilco and finished her career at Com Ed.

Throughout her years Debra enjoyed being active in many groups.  She was a member of the Red Hat Club, Illinois Prairie Pastel Society, and the Heritage Lake Community Board.  In recent years she was baptized at the Cornerstone Baptist Church where she quickly became involved.

Debra loved color, and that could be seen in her love for flowers and art.   She loved to paint, both with oil paints and pastels.  Many of her works could be found around town at local businesses.  Many people were blessed to receive one of her paintings as a gift.  When she wasn’t painting, she loved to spend time in her garden raising flowers.

Traveling the world was a great joy for Debra.  She traveled to many beautiful countries outside of the states.  When she was home, she loved to spend time with her dogs who were a big part of her life.  She also loved to attend the races which was a joy she shared with her late husband Gordon.

There will be a visitation Friday May 22, 2026 from 4:00-6:00 pm at the Cornerstone Baptist Church. (18040 Unsicker Rd, Groveland, IL 61535).  There will be a graveside service Saturday May 23, 2026 at 2:00 pm at the Mackinaw Township Cemetery.  A meal and time of fellowship will follow at the Cornerstone Baptist Church.

In leu of flowers memorials may be made to the Illinois Prairie Pastel Society or Cornerstone Baptist Church.
