Delores Caughey

  Delores M. Johnson Caughey, 89, of Peoria, passed away at 10:15 pm Thursday, November 7, 2019 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. She was born February 18, 1930 in Peoria to Herbert and Pearl Waller Johnson. She married Jim Caughey on August 23, 1975 in Peoria and he passed away October 13, 2007. Surviving are four children, Al (Suzanne) Elston of TN, Rebecca (Warren) Howard of Pekin, Vickie Elston of Peoria, and Del (Paula) Elston of MS; three step-children, Dennis (Kim) Caughey of Chillicothe, Tim Caughey of Peoria, and Cyndi (Chris) Polhemus of Germantown Hills; seven grandchildren, Julie Elston, Erin Elston, Caitlyn Elston, Kecia Howard Campbell, Lenny Howard, Todd Thome, and Tracy Thome Phillips; six step grandchildren, C.J. Caughey, Brandi Caughey, Kristin Polhemus, Andrew Polhemus, Kaleb Caughey, and Jonah Caughey; 10 great grandchildren; and eight great great grandchildren; one brother, William Johnson of Peoria; and two sisters, Norma Jean Alexander of Creve Coeur and Pat Ward of Mapleton. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Janelle Friend; and one brother, Herb Johnson. Delores worked at Champion Pipe & Furnace Company in Peoria for 30 years retiring in 1990. She enjoyed playing Bingo. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Her funeral will be at 11:30 am Friday, November 15, 2019 at Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont. Pastor Robert Nafziger will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded following the service. Burial will be in Waveland, MS at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Kidney Foundation.
