Delores Knight Obituary

Delores Darlene (Dee Dee) Knight, formerly of Mackinaw, IL, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, October 10, 2022 at Oswego Health Hospital in Oswego, NY. Born on April 26, 1931, in Anna, Illinois to Jess Earl and Hester Margaret High, she married Jim Knight on April 2, 1946.  He preceded her in death on October 11, 2008.

Surviving are her daughter, Gaylon Sue (Joseph) Medley of Cato, NY, her son, Jess Madison (Tamara) Knight of Washington, IL, grandchildren, Lori (Sam) Carnicelli and Cathy Medley, both of Cato, NY, Michael (Eileen) Medley of Durhamville, NY, Matthew Knight and Joshua (Meghan) Knight of Washington, IL, and Erin Knight of Peoria, IL, 13 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  Also preceding her in death were her sister, Jackie Kelley, and her brothers, Jerry High and Junior High.

Delores grew up in southern Illinois but spent most of her adult life in the Creve Coeur/ Mackinaw areas. The last 20 years, she lived in Cato, NY, with her daughter and family.

From 1977 to 2001, she was an active member of the New Castle Bible Church in Mackinaw. While there, she diligently served in the church in many capacities from Sunday school teacher to deaconess. Delores was known for her hospitality and loved planning events. She also loved to travel and was proud of the fact that she and Jim visited all 48 continental United States.

Delores will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who always liked the food the best at the restaurant that was the farthest away.

Private services will be held on October 29, 2022, with burial in New Castle Cemetery in Mackinaw.  Haensel-Oswald Funeral Home in Mackinaw is handling the arrangements.

Memorial contributions can be given to the New Castle Bible Church in Mackinaw.
