Carol Dianne Walcott, 81, of Mackinaw, passed away Friday, August 16, 2024 at Hopedale Nursing Home.
She was born September 3, 1942, in Decatur to Dr. Alfred and Mary Elizabeth Rhodes Williams. She married Bruce Walcott on February 24, 1968, in Warrensburg, Illinois, and he survives.
Also surviving are her two sons, Nathan (Jennifer) Walcott of Mackinaw and Damon (Christy) Walcott of Washington, NC; four grandchildren, Logan, Landon, Dylan, and Eli Walcott; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Terry (Sandy) Williams.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Julian Williams; one sister, Lisa Williams; and in-laws Ovie and Jeanella Walcott.
Dianne received an undergraduate at Millikin University. Serving as an administrative assistant for multiple companies, she worked at Caterpillar as a secretary for 16 years before retiring. She was a member of Mackinaw Young at Heart and volunteered at Hopedale Medical Complex. Dianne was a devoted church member and lived out the Word of God. She loved cooking, traveling, shopping with friends, time with grandchildren, watching hummingbirds, and car shows. She and Bruce became Dee Mack’s #1 volleyball fans, attending hundreds of games together.
Dianne and Bruce were married Febuary 24, 1968. They created a deep love story and shared a beautiful life in the country. Many days were spent together, laughing with each other and watching God’s beauty around them.
Called mom, nana, or Mrs. Bruce, she was loved by so many. Her personality shone through her quiet smile and beautiful blue eyes. She was a silent warrior, always working in the background to help and cook for friends and family. Though she fought health issues throughout her life, she never complained. Born a blue baby, she survived four open heart surgeries over her 81 years. The talented hands of many surgeons, and most importantly, the love of her family and of God, kept her going.
Her memorial service will be at 7:00 pm Friday, August 23, 2024 at United Methodist Church in Mackinaw. Pastor Jarrett Wells will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7 pm before the service at the church. Burial will be held at a later date. Haensel-Oswald Funeral Home in Mackinaw is handling arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Mackinaw Rescue, Mackinaw Methodist Church, or St. Jude.
