Obituary
Don “Hob” Eugene Freitag, 84, passed away on August 1, 2023 at Saint Joseph hospital in Bloomington, IL.
He was born on July 26, 1939 in his family home in Minier, Illinois to Otto Simon and Grace Mildred Hanes Freitag.
He married Nancy Lynn Bolliger in 1961. Don and Nancy were married for 62 wonderful years.
Surviving are his children, Tim Eugene of Mackinaw, IL and Todd A of Portland, TN, grandchildren- Nicole (Ben) and Ashleigh (Anthony), and great grandchildren- Mason, Makenna, Adley and Ava-who he cherished.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; both of his brothers, Jim and Bob; and his great granddaughter, Aubrey.
Don graduated from Minier High School in 1957. He worked at Caterpillar Inc for 30 years and farmed for over 50 years always hoping for rain.
Don loved meeting people and making new friends, collecting toy and antique tractors, driving cool in his Ford Coup and Packard, and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle all over kingdom come. He also loved traveling this breathtaking universe with family and friends, and spending time with his grand/great grandchildren. He truly loved life. He was fond of saying, “You need to have a little fun every day” and “It’ll be alright, Mork.” And he did…and it will be.
Cremation has been accorded and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
