Dona Culbertson Obituary

  Dona Jane Holmes Culbertson, 92, of Mason City Area Nursing Home, passed away at 2:40 pm Tuesday, October 15, 2019. She was born October 22, 1926 in Peoria to Lloyd Glenn and Marie Curtis Holmes. She married George H. Culbertson on November 3, 1946 at First Presbyterian Church in Delavan, and he passed away on March 31, 2013. Surviving are one son, Michael (Trisha) Culbertson of Mason City; three sons-in-law, Jim Reese of Delavan, Michael Morris of Tremont, and Tom Hammel of Springfield; one daughter-in-law, Debbie Knuppel of Delavan; one brother, Glenn (Loretta) Holmes of Delavan; two sisters, Marge Fuhrman of Connecticut and Helen Hopkins of Delavan; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Jim Holmes; one son, G. Edward Culbertson; three daughters, Ellen Reese, Kathy Morris and Ruth Hammel; one grandson, Neil Reese. In 1951 George and Dona moved to the family farm in Malone Township in rural San Jose. Dona was active raising her family, working at Bergner's, busy with numerous church activities, playing bridge and card games with family and friends, attending sporting events of their children and grandchildren, creating crafts and enjoying life to the fullest with her family and friends. Her funeral will be at 11:00 am Saturday, October 19, 2019 at the First Presbyterian Church in Delavan. Pastor Jean Sparks will officiate. A visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:45 am before the service at the church. Burial will be at Prairie Rest Cemetery in Delavan. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Delavan is handling the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Delavan or Mason City Area Nursing Home.
