Donald L. Bennett, 66, of Morton, passed away May 26, 2024 at his home.
He was born April 11, 1958 in Bloomington to Daniel and Shirley Weindel Bennett.
Surviving are his father, Dan (Diane) Bennett of Minier; three sons, Travis Bennett of Vero Beach, FL, Dustyn Bennett of Chandler, AZ, and Grant (Amber) McGee of Shirley; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Gary (Betty) Bennett of Jacksonville, FL and Douglas Bennett of Morton; two nephews, Daniel (Nicole) Bennett of Panama City Beach, FL and Joseph Bennett of Jacksonville, FL.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Knuppel.
Donald graduated from Deer Creek Mackinaw High School. He worked in a body shop and later owned and operated Bunn Street Body Shop in Bloomington. He later worked as a carpenter including the remodel of TNT Sports Bar and Grill in East Peoria.
He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion in Morton.
He enjoyed woodworking.
The family wishes to thank his dear friends, Mark Rhodes and Vanessa Younker for their many years of friendship with Don and their love and care for him during his illness. Another thank you to his friend, Alan Klunk.
Cremation has been accorded. There will be no services per Don’s request. A celebration of life will be at a later date. Haensel-Oswald Funeral Home in Mackinaw is handling the arrangements.
