Donald Edward Hoeft, 94 of Bloomington, formerly of San Jose and Delavan, passed away Friday, July 4, 2025 at Martin Health Center in Bloomington.
He was born April 22, 1931 in San Jose to Edward and Charlotte Vetter Hoeft. He married Linda A. Schleder on September 4, 1960 in Emden, and she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Dana (Tony) Robbins of Bloomington and Gail (Marty) Morgan of Lake Bluff; five grandchildren, Dane Robbins, Chase Robbins, Devon (Ryan) Coyle, Connor Morgan, and Zach Morgan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Thelma Tammeus.
Donald served in the United State Navy attaining the rank of 1st Class Petty Officer.
He farmed in the Delavan-San Jose area.
He was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church , rural San Jose (Allens Grove Township), Delavan American Legion Post 387, served as a Tazewell County Farm Bureau Board member and served on the Delavan Co-op Elevator Board.
He enjoyed traveling, and spending time with his family.
His funeral will be at 10:00 am Thursday, July 10, 2025 at Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Delavan. Ernie Stone, Spiritual Coordinator at Westminster Village in Bloomington, officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sand Prairie Cemetery in Green Valley.
