Donald Phillippi

Donald Phillippi, 89, of East Peoria, formerly of Leesburg, FL, passed away Wednesday October 26, 2022 at his home.

He was born December 2, 1932 in Galesburg to Flip and Dorothy Chalmers Phillippi. He married Beverly Young on July 3, 1969 in Portland, OR and she survives.

Also surviving are his son, James “Foot” Ryder of Oneida; one daughter, Michelle (Art) Dutton of East Peoria; six grandchildren, Sherry (Sean) Godsil of Galesburg, Jake (Cali) Ryder of Holland, IA, Shane (Maggie) Hubbard of Galesburg, Amanda (Bob) Baker of Bartonville, Monica Diver of Washington, and Meagan Dutton of East Peoria; and eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Donald retired from the United States Navy, where he was a sonar and radar technician for 20 years. He then worked at The Galesburg Clinic in optical.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, and was known for his margaritas.

Cremation has been accorded.  The inurnment will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield at a later date. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont is handling the arrangements.
