Donald Pille Obituary

Donald R. Pille, 96, of Mapleton, passed away July 2, 2022 at Autumn Accolade in Green Valley. 

He was born May 6, 1926 in Peoria to George and Elizabeth Janssen Pille.  He married Mavis Jingst on July 28, 1951 and she passed away January 7, 1987. He later married Anna Lee Rosenbohm on July 2, 1988 and she passed away November 4, 2009. 

Surviving are his children; Cindy Cowell of Morton, Cathy (Ric) Hartzler of Delavan, Steve (Cathy Frietsch ) Pille of East Peoria and Stuart (Amy) Pille of Mapleton;  nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one brother, Lowell Pille; stepchildren, John (Jane) Rosenbohm of Hanna City, Barbara (John) Eisfelder of Jacksonville, Donna (Bill) Erikson of Champaign, Frederick (Miriam) Rosenbohm, Jr., Paul (June) Rosenbohm, and Julia (John) Haage, all of Peoria; many step grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter and great granddaughter, Christy and Caileigh Hartzler; and one son-in-law, Dick Cowell. 

Don graduated from Timber Township High School and enlisted in the Army in 1945. He served in the Army Security Agency in both Germany and Italy and was discharged in January of 1947. 

He was a past member of the Peoria County Soil & Water District, the Peoria County Farm Bureau, past member of Glasford School Board and a Director of the Glasford State Bank.  He was a member of the Glasford American Legion Post 35 and St. Peter Lutheran Church. 

Most important was being a farmer for over 70 years, continuing to talk farming from his chair at Autumn Accolade. 

His funeral will be at 11:00 am Saturday, July 9, 2022 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Glasford. Pastor Ray Barclay will officiate.  Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:45 am Saturday, also at the church.  Burial will be in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, rural Glasford with military honors by the U.S. Army and Glasford American Legion Post 35. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church.
