Donald L. Unsicker, 98, of Morton, formerly of Mackinaw, passed away Friday, October 13, 2023 at McLean County Nursing Home in Normal.
He was born January 14, 1925 in rural Tremont to Daniel and Marie Suchert Unsicker. He married Betty Berkley on September 3, 1955 in Mclean, and she survives.
Also surviving are his children, Laurie Unsicker of Columbus, OH and Mark (Sharon) Unsicker of Hopedale; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Marilyn Unsicker of Mackinaw and Cleo Unsicker of Pleasant Grove, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ruth Getz and Marjorie Moore; and nine brothers, Herb, Willard, Glenn, Richard, Ray, Harold, Ralph, Vernon, and Walter.
Donald worked at Meyer Grain Dryer Sales and Tazewell County Floor Covering, both in Morton.
He served in the United States Army during WWII.
He was a member of the Mackinaw Lion’s Club, Mackinaw American Legion, and the Mackinaw Christian Church, where he served as Elder.
Don enjoyed bowling, golfing, crossword puzzles, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.
Cremation has been accorded. A private family graveside service will be in Mackinaw Township Cemetery at a later date. Haensel-Oswald Funeral Home in Mackinaw is handling the arrangements.
