Donna L. Hilst

Donna Lee Hilst, 78, of Green Valley, passed away Friday, June 13, 2025 at her home.

She was born October 6, 1946 in Pekin to L. W. “Pete” and Virginia L. Friedrich Urish.  She married Gary Hilst on May 8, 1966 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Manito, and he survives.

Also surviving are her children, Wendy (Al) Juraco and Brian (Angela) Hilst, both of Green Valley; four grandchildren, Jennifer Juraco, Matt Juraco, Emily Hilst, and Brandon Hilst; three brothers, Dennis (Betty) Urish of Pekin, Albert “Bert” Urish and Gary (Carol) Urish, both of Green Valley; and brother-in-law, Ronald (Mary) Hilst of Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Donna graduated from Green Valley High School in 1964.  She worked for Herget Bank in Pekin for a couple of years.  She and Gary then raised their family and she was a busy farm wife for the rest of her life.

She was a member of St. John’s (Sand Prairie) Lutheran Church in Green Valley and its Hannah Guild.

Donna was a sports enthusiast and especially enjoyed following the Chicago Cubs and Fighting Illini basketball.  She enjoyed gardening, biking, bowling, playing cards, dancing, and fishing. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and hosting holiday dinners.

Her funeral will be at 11:00 am Monday, June 16, 2025 at Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Delavan.  Pastor Chris Sansom will officiate.  Visitation will be from 9:00-10:45 am Monday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Green Valley Cemetery in Green Valley.

Memorials may be made to St. John’s (Sand Prairie) Lutheran Church in Green Valley.
