Doris Joy (McNutt) Gluck, 84, formerly of Peoria, IL, went home to be with Jesus on August 31, 2026, at Paisley Manor in Pekin.
She was born on February 22, 1942 in Zion, IL to Arthur and Zella (Cornelius) McNutt. Joy married Joel A. Gluck on January 29, 1966, at Zion Faith Homes in Zion, IL. He preceded her in death on November 13, 2023. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, A.C. (Esther) McNutt.
Joy is survived by her two children, David (Andrea) Gluck of Peoria, IL and Anita (Scott) Stidman of Morton, IL and two grandchildren, Luke and Alison Stidman of Morton, IL. She is also survived by her brother Paul (Barbara) McNutt of Florida, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Joy grew up in Zion, IL. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior when she was five years old at Vacation Bible School. She graduated from Zion-Benton Township High School in 1960. She then trained to be a missionary at Zion Faith Homes Ministerial Training Home. It was during this time that she met Joel and they began a life of a ministry together as a pastor and pastor’s wife.
She and Joel raised their two children while actively serving in a variety of ministries including church ministry, nursing homes, prison ministry, the South Side Mission, and Faith Church at B’nai B’rith. She and Joel lived at B’nai B’rith for nine years in their retirement.
Joy enjoyed singing hymns (especially with Joel), and playing the piano, organ, and autoharp. She loved supporting missionaries, including her brother Paul, his wife Barbara, and their daughter Dawn who served at Kaimosi Bible College in Africa. She supported many Christian charities both locally and internationally. She loved to encourage and pray for family members and friends through phone calls and letters. She also enjoyed preparing and eating healthy foods.
