Dorothy Marie Pawson Jost, 100, formerly of Delavan, passed away on Friday, July 9, 2021, in Indianapolis, Indiana.
She was born November 3, 1920, in Delavan, the daughter of Henry Donald Pawson and Anna Armstrong Pawson. She married Carl H. Jost on August 29, 1941. Dorothy was preceded in death by Carl, her two sisters, Mary Francis Pawson and Esther Pawson Strong, and her brother, Clarence Pawson.
Dorothy lived most of her life in Delavan. She grew up on the family farm near Delavan. After marrying Carl they lived in town. For the last six years she lived in Indianapolis, IN, to be close to her daughter. She attended Dickinson College of Business before working as a secretary. For fifteen years she was the bookkeeper for Watson International. She is a lifelong member of the Delavan United Methodist Church.
She was the “hostess with the mostest”. No one ever entered her home without having a meal – a delicious meal – or least her famous cookies.
Dorothy is survived by her children, James Jost, Del Rio, TX; Susan (Wayne) Schmidt, Indianapolis, IN; and Dennis Carl (Susan) Jost, Phoenix, AZ; 8 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00, Saturday, July 17 at Prairie Rest Cemetery.. Arrangements are by Davis-Oswald Funeral Home of Delavan.
