Dorothy VanDyke

Dorothy I. VanDyke, 88, of Hopedale, passed away Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Villas of Hollybrook in Morton. 

She was born November 2, 1932 in Royalton to Ervy and Nellie Grissom Shirley.  She married Kenneth VanDyke on February 1, 1958 in Marian, and he survives. 

Also surviving are her children, Debra Surratt of Canton, GA, Terry (Stacy) VanDyke of Hopedale, Roger (Laurie) VanDyke of Hopedale, and Jeff (Lisa) VanDyke of McLean; eight grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers; two sisters; and one grandson, Jason Surratt. 

Dorothy was a hair stylist for 45 years. 

She loved to cook meals for the family, baking, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Her funeral will be at 1:00 pm Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Living Hope Community Church in Hopedale.  Pastor Roger Springer will officiate.  Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 12:45 pm Wednesday, also at the church.  Private family burial will be in Orndorff Cemetery in Hopedale.  Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont is handling the arrangements.
