Douglas Abernathie

Douglas L. Abernathie, 73, of Tremont, passed away Thursday, November 4, 2021 at his home. 

He was born April 8, 1948 in Chicago the son of Hadley and Irene Honey Abernathie.  He married Donna Marie Harkins on December 28, 1968 in Tremont, and she survives. 

Also surviving are two sons, Christopher Allen (Shannon) Abernathie and James David (Shannon) Abernathie, both of Groveland; four grandchildren, Ciara, Andrew, Jadin, and Ryland. 

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

He served in the United State Air Force during the Vietnam War. 

Doug worked at Caterpillar Inc. for 25 years, retiring in 2004. 

He was a member of the Tremont American Legion Post 1236, the NRA and was an avid golfer and bowler. 

His funeral will be at 10:30 am Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont.  Pastor Larry Frank will officiate.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
