Douglas Farris Obituary

Douglas Farris, of Adair, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2024 at the Lamoine Retirement Living in Macomb.

He was born September 9, 1944 to June and Vesta Martin Farris in Timbo, AR.  He attended Shirley, AR schools graduating in 1962.  He married Carolyn Clark on October 17, 1963 in Delavan.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Farris of Adair; three sons, Scott (Dawn) Farris of Adair, Todd (Dawn) Farris of Pekin, and Michael (Laura) Jones of Oxford, MS; one daughter, Candus (Tracy) Bratton of Oxford, MS; one brother, Dwain Farris of Fairfield Bay, AR; one sister, Sherry Alman of Norfolk, AR; two grandsons, Alex Farris of Pekin and Eli Jones of Oxford, MS; three granddaughters, Leah Treadwell of Cassville, MO, Brooke Ross of New Albany, MS, and Heather Pruitt of Oxford, MS; four great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Thomas, Austin, Raz, and Gary Farris; and three sisters, Royce Holt, Lou Tester, and Bobbie Coker.

His working career included 21 years at Keystone Steel & Wire in Bartonville, 12 years at Commonwealth Edison in Pekin, and eight years at Pekin High School as a maintenance supervisor, retiring to his farm in Adair in 2006.

He owned many coonhound dogs over the years and loved training and hunting with them- making many friends through this hobby.

Doug enjoyed living the quiet life and spending time with family and friends.

A private graveside service will be at Prairie Rest Cemetery in Delavan. The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 4:30 pm Friday, March 1, 2024 at the Delavan Baptist Church.  Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Delavan is handling the arrangements.
