Eileen Nafziger Obituary

Eileen I. Nafziger, 101, of Hopedale, Illinois, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024, at Hopedale Nursing Home.

She was born June 8, 1923 in Hopedale to Alvin and Bessie (Kaufman) Good. She married Maurice Nafziger on August 4, 1947 in Hopedale.

Surviving are five children, Sharon Gehring of Moundridge, KS, Robert (Nadine) Nafziger of Hopedale, Mary Kay (Bruce) Stucky of Moundridge, KS, Mark (Dawn) Nafziger of Morton, IL, and John (Robin) Nafziger of Hopedale; 13 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one sister, Marilyn Kauffmann of Charleston, SC; and sisters-in-law LaRelda Birky and Delores Nafziger. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; granddaughter Mandy Nafziger; son-in-law Robert Gehring; sisters Marcella Kossen, Oleta Bachman, Helen Mumaw, and Lola Kauffmann; and brothers Walter Good and John Good.

Eileen was a homemaker and avid gardener who loved her flowers, especially roses.  She was a caregiver at 15 years of age for her Grandmother Kaufman in Manson, IA and later for her older sister Oleta, her parents, and many other friends and family members.  She was a member of Mennonite Church of Dillon, where she taught Sunday School and participated in Sewing Circle.

Her funeral will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont, IL. Her son, Pastor Robert Nafziger, will officiate. Visitation will be prior to the funeral from 9:00 to10:45 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mennonite Cemetery, rural Hopedale. The funeral service will be Facebook live by going to Oswald Funeral Home Facebook page.

Memorials may be made to Mennonite Church of Dillon - Mission Fund or Hopedale Nursing Home.
