Eilene Bogar

Eilene Marjorie Bogar, 90, of Minier, IL went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.  Eilene was born at home in Panola, IL on January 22, 1936, to Luther and Tillie Krug.  She married Frank Bogar of Eureka, IL on December 24, 1954.

Early on, Eilene lived in Eureka and worked for the president of Eureka College.  In 1959 they moved to Armington to farm.  Eilene worked as a farm wife alongside her husband for 30 years while raising a family before retiring to Minier, IL.  During these years she also worked as a seed corn dealer and served on the Olympia School board.

Eilene or (Liz) as many in the El Paso Eureka area call her, had a very strong faith in Jesus Christ.  She taught children, led on committees and sang in the choir both in Armington Christian and Minier Christian churches.  Perhaps her biggest passion, other than her faith, was baking for family and friends.  In earlier years she enjoyed competing in baking contests in local fairs and area competitions.   Eilene was an avid vegetable and flower gardener as well.   She loved Lake of the Ozarks, vacationing there for decades.  Additionally, she fervently prayed for her country.

Listening, encouraging and guiding were definitely gifts.  Her living room, with a cup of coffee and maybe a piece of pie, offered a safe place to land.    She allowed joy to come into the simplest forms.  A flower, a bird, something delicious and a laugh.  One of her favorite outings was going anywhere with her daughters.

Survivors include her 4 daughters.  Lori (Keith) Schmidgall of Mackinaw, Claire (Jeff) Logsdon of Danvers, Amy (John) Freitag of Danvers and Jill Bogar (Michael Dickson) of Minier.  Eilene was blessed with 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.   She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years and a great granddaughter. 

Memorials may be given to Minier Christian Church or Home Sweet Home Mission.

 A celebration of her life will be at 2 pm Saturday, August 29th at Minier Christian Church.  All are welcome.
