Eldora Coggins Obituary

Eldora M. (Cremeens) Coggins, 81, of Fairbury, formerly of Minier, passed away Friday, July 12, 2024 at Fairview Haven in Fairbury.

She was born February 26, 1943 in Bloomington to Eldoris  C. and Mary A. Greathouse Cremeens.  She first married Nyles K. Schumm and he passed away April 30, 1968. She later married Leslie Coggins on January 10, 1969 in Minier, and he passed away July 2, 2010.

Surviving are her children, David Schumm of Reserve, NM, Sheila (Robert) Powers, of Fairbury, Dawn (Jon) Hurt of Fairbury, and Annette (Jon) Thompson of Bloomington; step-children, Paula Pope of Willow Brook, Jerome (Angela) Coggins of Richmond, TX, and Lori (Garry) Lockwood of Pekin; 24 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; one sister, Sandra Shawgo of Mackinaw; one sister-in-law, Judy Cremeens of Deer Creek; one brother-in-law, Chris Rasmussen of IA; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Roger Schumm; one daughter, Peggy Kerrins; one stepson, Tim Coggins; two sisters, Marilyn Morgan and Joyce Rasmussen; and one brother, Dennis Cremeens.

Eldora attended Minier High School and worked as a CNA in Hopedale and Morton nursing homes.  She also worked at Schmitt’s Grocery Store  and did home health care.

She attended West Twin Grove Church, River of Life Outreach Church in Meadows, and Faith Fellowship in Fairbury, where she did volunteer service.

She also volunteered at Jesus Coffee House in Bloomington and at Meadows Nursing Home.

Her funeral will be 11:00 am Thursday, July 18, 2024 at Haensel-Oswald Funeral Home in Minier.  Pastor David Heath will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery in Tremont. 

Memorials may be made to Fairview Haven in Fairbury or SELCAS Ambulance Service.
