Erma Moehring

Erma J. (Groenewold) Moehring, 94, of Delavan, passed away Monday, April 8, 2024 at Mason City Area Nursing Home.

She was born January 3, 1930 to Daniel and Lucille Day Groenewold.  She married Louis G. Moehring, Jr. on December 14, 1952 in Delavan, and he survives.

Also surviving are her children, Mary Ann (Lonnie) Eden of San Jose and Mark Moehring of Manito; three grandchildren, Jessica (Jake Calkins) Eden of Westminster, CO, Jeffrey Eden of Havana, and Jared (Kylie) Eden of Foristell, MO; one great granddaughter, Olivia Conway; three brothers, Gerald “Judge” (Bev) Groenewold of Delavan, Bob Groenewold of Metamora, and Dale Groenewold of Boulder, CO; many nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Richard, Wayne, and Lyle; and three sisters, Josephine, Leila, and Ann.

Erma graduated from Delavan High School in 1948.  She worked at various places in Delavan until her marriage, after which she was a devoted farm wife.

She showed love and dedication to her family, friends, and church. She was always glad to step in and help others when she could.  She became “mom” and “grandma” to many who needed that role to be filled in their lives.  They are too numerous to mention.

She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Mason City and Mason County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee.

She was on a bowling league in Delavan and enjoyed weaving rag rugs, a craft she taught to her grandchildren and others.

Her funeral will be at 10:00 am Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Christ Lutheran Church in Mason City.  Pastor Wray Offerman will officiate.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Friday at Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Delavan.  Burial will be in Allens Grove Cemetery rural San Jose.

Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church in Mason City or Delavan Ambulance.
