Eugene Schmidgall

Eugene Arthur Schmidgall, 83, of Manito, passed away at 10:50 am Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Unity Point Health Pekin, with his family by his side. 

He was born in Peoria on December 12, 1939 to William and Henrietta Schmidgall.  He married Frances Kay Stadsholt on September 17, 1966 in Mason City.  She preceded him in death on September 22, 2012.  He was also preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Elaine Gallafent. 

Gene is survived by his two sons, Brian (Kelly) Schmidgall of Green Valley and Trent (Carrie) Schmidgall of St. Johns, FL; his grandchildren, Zach (Kennedy) Schmidgall of McCordsville, IN, Kayla (Brandon) Riehle of Aurora, Ashley (Tyler) Blevins of Westfield, IN, Aaron Schmidgall of St. Johns, FL, and Alex Schmidgall of Plano, TX; his bother, David (Cheryl) Schmidgall of Delavan; his sister, Linda (Charley) Hughes of Carrollton, TX; and one great granddaughter, Kaydence Schmidgall. 

Gene served in the United States Army from 1958 through 1960 and was stationed in Germany.  He worked at Keystone Steel and Wire for 41 years, retiring in 2002.  Gene enjoyed gardening and attending classic car shows and showcasing his 1966 Grand Prix.  He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Mason City. 

His funeral will be at 11:00 am Friday, January 6, 2023 at Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Delavan.  Pastor James Sprinkel will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Green Valley Cemetery. 

Memorials may be made to the Assembly of God Church.
