Eugene Seets
Obituary
Eugene Seets, 94, of Mackinaw, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Villas of Hollybrook in Pekin.
He was born June 6, 1928 in Saline County, IL to Beecher and Mattie Jenkins Seets. He married Helen R. Dowds on August 9, 1952 in East Peoria, and she died October 28, 2009.
Surviving are his children, Margaret Clayton of East Peoria, Barb (Jon) Rediger of Morton, Sherry (Earl) Ropp of Tremont, and Brenda Stewart of Pekin; 21 grandchildren; 58 great grandchildren; 29 great great grandchildren; one brother, Dewaine (Carolyn) Seets of Fulton, MO; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Robert and Ronald Young; four grandchildren; one brother, Raymond Seets; and one son-in-law, Jim Stewart.
Eugene retired from the Teamsters & Chauffeur Union in 1992, where he drove a truck for Railroad Express, Chipper Cartage, and Butternut.
He served in the United States Army from 1946-1948.
He was a man of faith. Later in life he found his passion of canvas painting.
His funeral will be at 2:00 pm Sunday, November 6, 2022 at Haensel-Oswald Funeral Home in Mackinaw. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mackinaw Township Cemetery.
