Ewing "Jack" Stokes

Ewing “Jack” Stokes, 82, of Groveland, passed away 1:20 am Saturday, April 8, 2023 at his home.

He was born June 22, 1940 in Peoria to Joseph and Beulah Harris Stokes.  He married Diane Bellows on July 22, 1975 in East Peoria, and she survives.

Also surviving are his children, Melanie (Ben) Kobulnicky of Bloomington, and their children, Trent, Andrew, and Noah and Joseph (Carly) Stokes of Tremont, and their children, Annabelle, Samuel, and Daniel.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Cheryl Smith.

He served in the United States Air Force for four years as an airman and served three years in Wiesbaden, Germany.

Jack worked at Caterpillar Inc. retiring in 2001.

He had his private pilots license and was a member of the EAA, enjoyed gardening and horticulture, hunting and fishing, and was a lifetime member of the NRA.

Jack was a born again Christian who left a Christian legacy for his children and grandchildren.

His funeral will be at 10:00 am Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont. Tuck Tarter will officiate.  Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday, also at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Tremont with military honors by Tazewell Military Rites Team and United States Air Force.
