Freddie Carl Woerner, 93, formerly of Tremont, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2023 at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton.
He was born December 8, 1929 in Tremont to George and Lena Moser Woerner. He married Patricia Crothers on September 13, 1953 and she passed away March 6, 1989. He then Married Mary Ann Behrends on June 9, 1990 and she passed away April 21, 2014.
Surviving are his children, Mark (Ann) Woerner of Virginia, Brenda (Ed) Holt of Pekin, and Terri (Ron) Rogers of Morton; three step-children, David (Julie) Behrends of Tremont, Leanne (Greg) Waremburg of Tremont, and Rebecca Meadows of Normal; three grandchildren, Adam Bouris of Oregon, Breanna (Steve) Hilbert of Colorado, and Gaby Rogers of Indiana; eight step-grandchildren, April (Joe) Ackerson, Megan (Paul) Donahoe, Kyle (Amanda) Waremburg, Hayley (Matt) Cockroft, Hunter Meadows, Parker (Kristen) Meadows, Mitchell (Libby) Behrends, McKenzie (Mason) Schrock; two great grandchildren; nine step great grandchildren; one brother, Ken Woerner of Tremont; and one sister, Mary Ellen Sinn of Morton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, George “Bud”; and one sister, Joanne Stoller.
He served in the United States Air Force from November 11, 1952 to November 10, 1955.
Fred worked for R.A. Cullinan for 32 years as a job foreman and farmed part-time in the Tremont and Pekin areas.
Fred was a loving, kindhearted man who loved being around family and friends. He could always put people at ease with his warm smile and gentle nature.
He enjoyed being outdoors-fishing, mushroom hunting, and gardening. Also, a favorite routine was joining conversation with the morning coffee group.
He attended the Tremont Baptist Church, where he enjoyed fellowship and worship.
His funeral will be at 2:00 pm Friday, April 7, 2023 at Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont. Ministers of the Apostolic Christian Church will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Thursday, also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin with military honors provided by the United States Air Force.
