Frederick John Lenz

Frederick John Lenz, Jr. (John Lenz), 97, of Hopedale, passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Hopedale Hospital. He was born on November 29, 1928, to Fred John Lenz, Sr. and Ruby Keck in Hinsdale, IL. He married Pauline Zielgler. She preceded him in death on January 30, 2008.

He was also preceded in death by his three brothers; Winston, Corwin, and Paul; and his daughter-in-law, Lisa (Goss) Lenz.

John is survived by his son Michael Lenz, and his daughter Debbie Lenz.

He was the co-founder and owner of Lenz Oil Service Inc. in Peoria, which was started in 1947. A pioneer of recycling, in his 50-year career he helped Lenz Oil recycle over 50 million gallons of used oil.

Cremation rights have been accorded by the family. Services are Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026 at Hopedale Open Bible Church, 615 Cherry St, Hopedale IL 61747. Funeral service will be at 4 p.m., with a memorial visitation following, from 5-7 p.m.
