Gerald Bucher

Gerald “Jerry” Eugene Bucher, a baptized Child of God, was born on July 12, 1938.  His parents were Caleb and Gladys Shawgo Bucher.  God, whom he loved, called him home to heaven at the age of 85.  Formerly from Tremont, he was residing at the Hopedale Nursing Home.

He was married 63 wonderful years to Judy Todd whom he married on October 16, 1960 at Roland Manor Baptist Church in East Peoria, IL.  She survives as well as two sons, Randy (Katina) Bucher and Keith (Malia) Bucher and daughter Diane Gingerich, four grandchildren Amanda, Doug, Bryce and Bailey, and one great grandson Owen.  He is survived by one sister Jeanette Schisler and one brother Richard Bucher, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Jean Anderson, and one brother Aubrey Bucher.  

Jerry grew up in Astoria, IL and graduated from Astoria High School.  He graduated from MidState Business School (formerly Browns Business School) in Peoria, IL.  He retired as the Chief Financial Officer from ENTEC Services in 1994.

Sports played a big role in Jerry’s life.  He was involved in various sports as a player, a coach, and later a spectator.  He was an avid St Louis Cardinal fan.  He enjoyed fishing, golf, being outdoors and had a love for ice cream.  He enjoyed life to it’s fullest and possessed a keen sense of humor.

A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 18040 Unsicker Road, Groveland, IL at 11:00am.  Visitation will be 2 ½ hours prior to the Celebration of Life from 8:30am till 11:00am also at the church.  A private burial will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery at a later date.  Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont is handling the arrangements.
