Gerald “Jerry” Wayne Wienzierl, , of Morton, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Unity Point Methodist in Peoria.
He was born December 19, 1943 in Pekin to Harry and Vada McGinnis Wienzierl. He married Patricia Shields on April 24, 1964 in Bloomington, and she survives.
Also surviving are his children, Jerry (Kim) Wienzierl of Joelton, TN, Shane (Tracy) Wienzierl of Dillon, and Sheila (Thomas) Casey of East Peoria; four grandsons and five granddaughters; and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Harold “Ed” Wienzierl; three sisters, Lillian Sanders, Martha Rebis, and Nancy Rhodes; and one grandson.
He worked for Cliff Kauffman & Sons for many years in Morton and Willis Knapp & Sons in Congerville.
Jerry “Pee Wee” was a Union Bricklayer for over 50 years. Jerry did a lot of homes and Business Buildings in the Morton, Peoria and Bloomington areas. He enjoyed working with stone the most.
Jerry enjoyed his coin collection, working with wood and fishing. He loved going to Car Shows as well as antique stores. Jerry loved to tell stories to all of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren about the good old days and telling them jokes.
He also loved driving down backroads listening to his country music.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 am Monday, April 24, 2023 at Haensel-Oswald Funeral Home in Mackinaw. Pastor Stephen Barch will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00-10:45 am Monday, April 24, 2023 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Gaines Cemetery , Minier.
