Gordon Mielke

Gordon E. Mielke, 79, of Mackinaw, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at Carle Health Methodist Hospital.

He was born October 2, 1944 in East Hartford, CT to Raymond and Ethel St. Germain Mielke.  He married Melissa E. Doman on April 23, 1966 in Chicago, and she passed away April 3, 2003.  He later married Debra J. Mielke on July 6, 2006 in Las Vegas, NV, and she survives.

Also surviving are his children, Christopher (Michelle) Mielke of Raleigh, NC and Vanessa Estelle Andres of Glen Ellyn; two stepchildren, Scott (Michele) Mathewson of Bloomington and Eric (Romey) Mathewson of The Villages, FL; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one stepdaughter, Dawn Marie Mathewson of St. Padre Island, TX.

Gordon earned a BA in electrical engineering and worked for Honeywell Inc. in Arlington Heights.

He attended Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Morton and was a member of Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). He enjoyed race cars and model cars.

Cremation has been accorded.  A private graveside service will be in Mackinaw Township Cemetery.  Haensel-Oswald Funeral Home in Mackinaw is handling the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Mackinaw Rescue Squad.
