Greg K. Schroeder, 78, of Delavan, passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at Unity Point Health Pekin.
He was born June 29, 1943 in Effingham to Kreed and Marjorie James Schroeder. He married Earlene Hidlebaugh on November 9, 1968 in Champaign, and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Andy (Jill) Schroeder of Canton and Matt (Liz) Schroeder of Washington, DC; four grandchildren, Clay, Sage, Reese, and Evan Schroeder; one brother, Tim Schroeder; and three sisters, Sally Kiernan of East Peoria, Joy Stump of Decatur, and Kim (Mark) Giles of OK.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Kay Dragoo and Pat Nelson.
He served in the United States Navy from 1962-1966.
He was a member of the Delavan United Methodist Church, where he served as treasurer, usher, and taught Sunday school. He was a member of the Delavan American Legion Post 382, VFW, and served on Prairie Rest Cemetery Board, where he served as treasurer.
He was an avid sports fan, especially the St. Louis Cardinals. He enjoyed spending time with his family, church family, and traveling.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 am Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Delavan United Methodist Church. Pastor Charles Graul will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Friday, also at the church. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Delavan is handling the arrangements.
