Obituary

Harold Lee Coggins 60 of Decatur, formerly of Hopedale, IL, passed away on December 31st, 2022 at his home with family by his side. 

He was born June 27, 1962 in Hopedale to Delbert & Etta Coggins.  Harold worked in the family business for many years as a construction laborer alongside his father and his brothers Everett and Lorn.  Harold was recently the caretaker for Isaak Walton League of America, Decatur Chapter.  

Harold also was involved in the annual Easter Egg Hunt in Hopedale that his family had started many years ago.

He is survived by his wife; Cindy (Decatur), brother’s; Everett (June) Coggins (Hopedale), Lorn Coggins (Hopedale), sister; Etta (Brian) Reed (Hopedale), along with two stepdaughters and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents.  Harold never turned down a request to help anyone in need of his strong hands or abilities to fix just about anything.  His energy and infectious laugh will be missed by everyone who knew him. 

There will be a celebration of life at Prairieland Builders shop on Ford Avenue in Hopedale, January 13th from 4:00 – 7:00.
