Harold W. Squires, 85, of San Jose, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Pekin Manor.
He was born September 14, 1938 , rural Mason City , to Percy and Elizabeth Canada Squires. He married Marilyn Harris on March 17, 1963 in San Jose, and she passed away January 25, 2023.
Surviving are one son, Mark (Beth) Squires of Delavan; one granddaughter, Jacelyn Squires (Fiancé Landon Horning) of Delavan; and one sister, Faye (Cliff) Duckworth of San Jose.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Justin Squires; and one granddaughter, Rachel Frizzell.
Harold graduated from San Jose High School in 1957. He then enlisted in the United States Army from 1959 to 1963.
He worked at Keystone Steel and Wire Company for 39 years.
He was a member of San Jose United Methodist Church, San Jose Fire Department for over 30 years, a member of San Jose American Legion, and participated in the Delavan American Legion breakfasts on Sunday mornings. Harold also went on the Greater Peoria Honor Flight in 2022.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and reading.
A private graveside service will be in Green Hill Cemetery in San Jose at a later date. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Delavan is handling the arrangements.
